Suspect charged with aggravated assault against Whitfield deputy

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – A Cleveland, Tennessee, man has been charged with aggravated assault on an officer for a Nov. 5, 2020, incident in which he almost struck a Whitfield County Sheriff’s deputy with his vehicle.

45 year old Michael James Flowers was charged Thursday with aggravated assault and a number of other charges at the Walnut avenue Walmart.

According to the sheriff’s report Flowers is accused of taking lithium batteries.

The deputy placed himself “in front of the Flowers vehicle in the parking lot and ordered him out. He said Flowers accelerated aggressively out of the parking spot, almost striking” him. Other charges are pending.
