Suspect charged in New Year’s Eve holdup

ATHENS, Tennessee (WDEF) – Athens Police say they arrested a suspect in a New Year’s Eve holdup on a basketball court.

Jacob Miller told officers he was playing hoops with a friend at North City School when a car pulled up.

He said two males pointed a handgun at him and took several items.

He also suffered minor injuries during the altercation.

Investigators say they identified the driver as 18 year old Eric Madry, Jr.

They searched for him throughout the night and arrested him on New Year’s Day.

Madry faces a charge of Aggravated Robbery.

The second suspect is still at large.
