Suspect killed in a robbery attempt was a suspect in a previous shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A man shot and killed during an attempted robbery last month has now been identified by police as a suspect in a previous shooting case.

On March 26th, Chattanooga Police got a report that a robbery victim shot a suspect in the 1600 block of Hamill Road.

The victim met a female online and arranged to meet her at a duplex.

That’s when investigators say Steven Hurston showed up and demanded money.

The victim then shot Hurston, who later died at the scene.

Now, the victim of another shooting has identified Hurston as a suspect in that case.

On March 13th at 3:20 a.m., Police got a call of a shooting on Cowart Street.

Medical personnel rushed the male victim to the hospital with non life threatening wounds.

35-year old Reuben L. Simpson has now identified Steven Hurston as the man who shot him.
