SWAT situation turns into death investigation; suspect in custody
OOLTEWAH, Tennessee (WDEF) – A Saturday morning SWAT situation at a home in the 4000 block of East Freedom Circle has ended with a suspect in custody and an investigation into the death of a woman who was inside the home.
Hamilton County Sheriff officials have confirmed that Jovian Kyndiah, 19, is the man who barricaded himself in the home and fired a gun at four deputies.
A deceased female was found in the residence and according to investigators, her death appeared to be caused by a gunshot. What led to the shooting is unclear and remains under investigation.
Investigators are withholding the victims identity until next of kin has been notified.
News 12 spoke to neighbor who was startled when he realized police were surrounding the home next door.
“I was getting ready for work so when I walked outside, cops were everywhere. They told me to stay in the house. We were looking out the window and saw them shooting tear gas. It was an action packed morning. It was very intense to watch,” said Tyler Jackson.
News 12 asked Jackson if he heard a gun shot.
“I heard one gunshot. He shot at the cops when they shot tear gas,” he said.
