TBI debuts new billboards in human trafficking awareness campaign
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) – Today, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation debuted new billboards on major roads across Tennessee as a part of their human trafficking awareness campaign.
The TBI says the new billboards are a part of their ongoing ‘IT has to stop’ campaign.
In Chattanooga, one of the campaign billboards can be seen on I-75 near Ringgold Road. Billboards can also be seen in Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, and Johnson City.
“Human trafficking is modern-day slavery, it’s unacceptable, and it’s a crime in Tennessee,” said TBI Director Mark Gwyn. “We hope TBI’s public awareness campaign continues to shed some much-needed light on the issue, so we can increase the number of people who insist it has to stop in our state and beyond.”
The billboards are funded by a grant from the State of Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs.
January is also National Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
