TDOT gives Cleveland grant for Downtown sidewalks

CLEVELAND, Tennessee (WDEF) – The Commissioner of TDOT visited Cleveland on Tuesday with his checkbook.

John Schroer announced a $674,190 Transportation Alternative Grant for the city.

It will be used on the 25th St. Corridor Area Multi-Modal Project.

The project will build and repair sidewalks on 25th Street, Peerless Road to Keith St., and Peerless Road from 25th to the Bradley County Nursing Home.

And they will include curbs, gutters, guardrails, landscaping and a bus stop.

“The city of Cleveland is committed to providing safe pedestrian and bicyclist facilities for its residents and linking critical economic, residential, and recreational areas,” Schroer said. “Projects like this enhance the lives of Tennesseans and make our communities more livable. I’m pleased the state can assist.”

The money comes from a federal program to revitalize downtown areas.
