TECH BYTE: Samsung Announces New Operating System

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Samsung has announced an updated version of its mobile operating system.

This isn’t your average software update.

Samsung says One UI 5 is uniquely designed for Galaxy users, by Galaxy users.

The tech company got direct feedback from thousands of those customers to help make the best improvements possible.

Most people keep their phone with them everywhere they go. That’s why Samsung is adding the Routines and Modes features.

These features tailor your device even more to your lifestyle.

They allow you to customize settings for everyday activities – from sleeping and exercising, to relaxing and driving.

Speaking of customization, the update brings even more personalization to your phone.

You can change the wallpaper, pop-ups, and clock style all from one screen.

The One UI 5 update also gives users better peace of mind when it comes to privacy.

Your phone warns you if you’re about to unintentionally share sensitive information.

This is a life saver if you accidentally try to send a picture of your credit card, driver’s license, or Social Security card to someone.

Another feature users liked when testing out the update is the Bixby Text Call feature.

It lets you answer a phone call just by typing a message!

The Bixby virtual assistant can convert that text to audio, and share it directly with the caller on the line.

It then shows you what the caller is saying by converting their voice to text.

This feature is super convenient if it’s very noisy around you, or you’re in a meeting and can’t talk.

The Bixby Text Call feature will be available in English early next year through the One UI software update.

Samsung says Galaxy users can take advantage of these improvements in the coming weeks.
