TECH BYTE: Tech Christmas Gift Ideas
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — If you don’t have your Christmas shopping done yet, the clock is ticking.
If you’re stuck on what to get your loved ones this year, don’t worry! We’ve got some tech ideas for you.
Let’s go ahead and get the bad news out of the way.
Don’t get your hopes up if you want to buy certain gaming systems like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox.
They’re so popular right now, Best Buy’s Nathan Roach says you likely won’t be able to find some of them until after the holidays.
But you might get lucky.
“The new Nintendo Switch OLED or O-L-E-D version as they call it is still very tough to get right now,” Roach said. “There is still probably a chance that some people may be able to find some around town, but as of right now, it is currently sold out in most locations.”
At least you’ll have better luck finding plenty of other hot tech products, like wireless headphones.
Some new AirPods or Beats earbuds make great stocking stuffers.
You’ll have to wrap them, but small appliances also make great gifts. You can use the Ninja Foodi Grill to either air fry or grill food.
You can’t exactly wrap a new outdoor grill though, but who cares? They’re high tech too.
“Traeger makes a pellet smoker/grill,” he said. “It can roast, it can really do everything for you, but it actually connects to the WiFi, so you’re able to adjust the temperature, monitor your grill, keep an eye on the actual probe for the meat that you’re cooking.”
Taking your cooking to the next level.
“You’ll actually set a temperature, and it’ll then keep it in that ideal zone, but you’ll be notified if the temp drops too much, if it gets too high.”
Another idea? Give the gift of home security with either a Ring doorbell or security camera.
“Just ways that people can continue to secure their residence, and keep their family safe, and also stop packages from being stolen from their porch, as well. Just helps them keep an eye out on their home,” Roach said.
And don’t forget voice assistants! More and more things are able to connect to them.
“You can even start your car with most voice assistants now, depending on the vehicle that you have,” Roach said. “But great options through Amazon, Google – anything from small to bigger options with the screen on them are available.”
A lot of options, but not a lot of time left to get that shopping done.
Roach says Best Buy has different deals happening each day over the holidays. They’re all listed on their website, BestBuy.com.
