TECH BYTE: Tech Decorations Set Halloween Mood

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Decorations play a big part in making your Halloween extra spooky.

They set the mood, and technology can help with that.

Mike Howard with Halloween Express says the animatronics don’t stay on store shelves for long.

“Our fog machines, we had a bunch, and we’re down to two or three right now,” he said.

Many of the animatronics are motion activated, making it easier for you to scare some of your trick-or-treaters.

The fog machines can come with remote controls or timers, so you can decide when to run them.

Strobe lights can also make your home extra eerie.

Even playing a simple Halloween DVD can turn your TV into a Monster Machine.

And you don’t have to be tech savvy to use any of these products to decorate your home.

“They’ve got good instructions that come with them,” Howard said. “They work pretty easy. That tall witch over there, I set her up in about 10 minutes this morning by myself.”

Even though tech gadgets can really jazz up your decorations or costume, sometimes you just have to go without the fancy electronics to do what you want.

“A lot of times [customers] see things on movies or games, and they want to be like that, and really they have to just put some things together to make the costume,” Howard said.

Howard says their entire Hamilton Place store is 50 percent off this year, so it’ll be easy for you to stock up on your decorations for this Halloween, or even next year.
