TECH BYTE: Use Tech to Help You Sleep Better

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — It can be a struggle to get our bodies to adjust to a time change or different sleep schedule.

When we’re on our smartphones all of the time – especially too close to bedtime – it can keep us from sleeping.

The key to that so close to bedtime, is to use the dark mode feature on your Android or iPhone.

It’s easier on your eyes, and saves battery life.

It makes the background of your phone black or dark, so the text is easier to read.

At least 93 apps support dark mode. 72 of them are iOS.

Some of those include Twitter, iBooks, Google Maps, and AccuWeather.

If you have an iPhone, you can also put your phone on “Night Shift” to help you sleep better. With this setting, Apple says it shifts the colors of your display to be warmer after dark.

You can access that in “Settings” on your phone.

You can set up dark mode through the display settings on your Android, as well.

As for other ways you can use your phone to help you get some shut eye, check out the Apple Health app to help track your sleep.

In the Clock app, you can also set a “Bedtime” alarm as a reminder for when you need to get ready for bed, and how many hours of sleep you need each night.

The time change is a good time to start good sleeping habits.

You can see a list of apps that support dark mode on darkmodelist.com.
