Teenage woman charged in shooting of Birmingham bartender
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – A 19-year-old woman is behind bars after she was accused of shooting a Birmingham bartender at a club last month.
Al.com reports that 19-year-old Savanah L. Hopkins was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted murder in the wounding of 23-year-old Zakk Earle at the Upside Down Plaza on Oct. 12.
Earle told investigators he was trying to get Hopkins to leave the club because she was underage when Hopkins’ boyfriend handed her something – believed to be the gun – and jumped the bartender before Hopkins shot him in the chest. He suffered damage to his liver and abdomen.
The woman’s boyfriend, 23-year-old Sebastian Godby, was also arrested Wednesday. He is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and drug possession with intent to distribute.
