Teenager gives birth after being shot at MARTA station

ATLANTA (AP) – MARTA officials say a 15-year-old teenager has given birth after she and another teen were shot in a drive-by shooting at a transit station in southwest Atlanta.

MARTA spokeswoman Alisa Jackson told local news media that the baby was born at Grady Memorial Hospital on Saturday after her mother was shot in the chest around 12:30 a.m. that same day at the Oakland City station. Jackson says the newborn girl is in stable condition.

Jackson says the mother is critical but stable condition. She was eight months pregnant.

The 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg, but his wound is non-life threatening.

MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris says both teens were shot on MARTA property. It’s not clear whether both teens were on their way to the station.
