Thanksgiving Day declared Grateful Gobbler Day

Hamilton County, Tenn. (WDEF) – Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger declared Thanksgiving Day as Grateful Gobbler Day in Hamilton County to promote the Grateful Gobbler Walk.

Since 1999, the Grateful Gobbler Walk has taken place Thanksgiving morning in Coolidge Park. It is a family friendly event.

Jeff Jackson, Market Leader of First Tennessee Bank, and Theresa Biggs, member of the Grateful Gobbler Planning Committee, joined Mayor Coppinger for the proclamation

All the proceeds from the event benefit the Maclellan Shelter for Families located at the Community Kitchen in Chattanooga. The emergency shelter has 13 units and a total of 64 beds. It is the first shelter in Chattanooga to allow a family to remain together during their search for permanent housing.

Since 2014, over 500 men, women, and children – more than 200 families – have benefited from the shelter.

The 17th Annual Grateful Gobbler Walk is this Thanksgiving in Coolidge Park. For more information, visit their website
