The final “No Smoke Sunday” has kids at Miller Park having fun

The idea of the event is to keep kids engaged and out of trouble over the summer

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The final “No Smoke Sunday” took place at Miller Park this afternoon.

The event targets young people, with the idea that they can be engaged and active in a safe environment.

News 12 saw close to two hundred kids taking part in the activities.

Some played video games through a mobile unit, while others played flag football.

LaDarius Price, a coach at Brainerd High School and organizer of the event, says it’s all about making our youth feel welcome to participate.

“It has no school. It has no color. It has no demographic. It has no … whatever you want to call it, it’s not limited to that. It’s everybody. So, we want to reach as many youth as we possibly can, no matter what background that they come from.”

Kids were able to get free food, and snow cones.

Organizers say they have seen close to two thousand kids this summer.
