The Porch Opens in Catoosa County

RINGGOLD, GA (WDEF) – The porch is a great place to read.

That’s according to employees at the Catoosa County Public Library.

Tuesday, they opened their long awaited outdoor reading area.

It’s called The Porch.

The peaceful space is located on the side of the library.

Along with today’s grand opening, the library celebrated their 15th anniversary.

Speakers were on hand to share a little bit of the building’s history, as well as how The Porch will be used.

Darla Chambliss, Director of the Catoosa County Public Library, says, "An outdoor relaxation area, a place to have children, read on blankets, finger pant.  So, finally two years ago they had enough money through donations to The Friends at the Library Group and through local dollars, and I believe there was a little bit of state money also to finish this area."

The Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce helped host Tuesday’s event.

The Porch and library is free to anyone who lives or works in Georgia.

Non-residents will have to pay a $25 fee.
