Thousands Celebrate the 21st Annual SonRise Resurrection Pageant

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – With Easter just around the corner, you’re probably thinking about bunny rabbits and egg hunts, but Southern Adventist University wants to remind everyone what the true meaning of Easter is really about.

For the 21st year in a row, the university hosted their famous SonRise pageant, focusing on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. More than 10,000 people from across the country travel to Collegedale every year to experience what life was like 2,000 years ago.

“I think people want to hear the story of Jesus Christ, and hear it again for themselves, and renew in their own experience the life of Jesus Christ, but then share it with others,” said Gordon Bietz, President of the University.

The event depicts six scenes in the last days of Christ’s life, starting with the Triumphal Entry, and ending with the Resurrection.
