Throwback Thursday: Riverbend 1985 From The Archives

Chattanooga (WDEF) – We are going back into the archives 30 years to wrap up Riverbend 1985.

These were the early years, when officials still worried if the new event would last.

1985 proved it might because they made money for the first time.

Still, there were problems.

There were complaints about over-crowding on the old Riverfront, before the area was expanded for larger crowds.

See our wrapup from 1985 to the left.

We also are remembering the first Suzy Bogguss appearance at Riverbend.

She returns to play the Unum stage at 8PM.

But in 1989, the new country sensation bailed out Riverbend.

Jerry Lee Lewis cancelled on the day of the show.

So they moved Bogguss from a side stage to the headliner.

Here is some of her show and her comments about the last minute change.
