Tim Boyd takes shot at East Ridge Council over police equipment

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Hamilton county commissioner Tim Boyd this morning blasted the city council in his home district of East Ridge.

At the end of the commission meeting, Boyd introduced a resolution making an appropriation to the East Ridge Police department in the amount of $7500 from the general fund.

Those funds were allotted to Boyd’s district 8.

Members of the East Police department union have complained that they don’t have basic tools and equipment to do their job.

That included ammunition, newer protective vests and even latex gloves.

Commissioner Boyd told us “To have a council in East Ridge that’s so focused on the economic development of exit one, and ignore the basic needs of a police department, is just unacceptable to me.”

“So, this is a gesture to say, from the county commission level, that we’re willing to help East Ridge Police, if their own city council can’t find funding for basic supplies like latex gloves.”

That resolution passed unanimously.
