Tornado Memorial damaged by suspected drunk driver

APISON, Tennessee (WDEF) The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department says an apparent drunk driver severely damaged the Tornado Memorial and flagpole in Apison overnight.

Deputies arrived at the scene on East Brainerd Road just after midnight.

They found a silver Acura with two men inside.

Apison Tornado MemorialThe deputies discovered that the same vehicle was involved in another wreck earlier in the night.

In that incident the car fled the scene after destroying a fence.

Back at the Tornado Memorial, the officers say the driver, Frankie Parsons, failed a field sobriety test.

He was arrested for DUI and Jesse Morris was charged with possession of a firearm while intoxicated, which they believe was stolen.

The Sheriff’s Department says more charges are pending in the case.

They say the Apison Tornado Memorial and flagpole suffered significant damage from the wreck.
