Toyota, Mazda narrow plant location down to N. Carolina, Alabama

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Alabama and North Carolina are the final states in the running to win a prized Toyota Motor Corp. and Mazda Motor Corp. joint car factory.

Several states were in the running for the massive plant worth $1.6 billion.

Tennessee, Texas and South Carolina were recently still in consideration.

A final choice is expected to be announced early next year.

Toyota announced in August that the factory is expected to have annual capacity of 300,000 units and create some 4,000 jobs.
