Trenton Plans “Disney” Parade for Emerson Crane

DADE COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Folks in Trenton and Dade County are getting ready for a special event next Saturday. They’re planning a Disney Parade for Emerson Crane.

The 10-year old has suffered from a brain tumor for most of his life. But he and his family have also been an inspiration for residents and friends.

Emerson and his mother just returned from a trip to Disneyland in California, but because Disney and Star Wars are his favorite, people all over wanted to do something special for him.

“He did just get back from Disney. He actually got to see one of the electric-color parades there. But this is going to be different because it’s going to be hands-on. He’ll actually be the uh, marshal..the grand marshal of the parade,” Trenton Police Chief Christy Smith said.

“He’s losing eyesight, uh so we want to make sure he has a night of lights , spectacular fireworks, everything we can do for this little guy,” said Sandra Gray, police commissioner.

Chief Smith says they expect people from all over the area to turn out for the Saturday night parade, and the fireworks show afterword.

Residents are building floats on gold carts for the event.

The Parade starts at 7:45 Saturday night at the Square in downtown Trenton.
