Troopers arrest suspect in jogger hit and run
LAFAYETTE, Georgia (WDEF) – Georgia State Troopers have arrested a suspect in a hit and run case in LaFayette.
Officials say a small truck crossed the center line on South Burnt Mill Road Tuesday morning and hit a woman who was jogging with her dog.
The truck hit the dog, too, and then drove on.
The victim was able to giver investigators a description.
Then, based on tips from the public, troopers seized the vehicle on Thursday night.
They have arrested Troy Lee Smothers of LaFayette.
He faces charges of Failure to Maintain Lane, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injury or Damage, Reckless Driving, and Operating a Vehicle without Due Regard.
