TVFCU grant giving away for small businesses

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – In a continuation of the Startup week, five small businesses made their pitch to receive grants to make their business pitch a reality.

The five businesses were Champion Christian Learning Academy, Chatt Taste Food Tours, Lil Mama’s Chicago Style Hoagy, Salon Posh, and Wild Violet Permaculture.

After its presentation and answering questions, the judges awarded Chatt Taste Food Tours the top prize of $21,000.

Owner and founder Briana Garza say even being named the winner, she felt like a winner just to make it to the top five.

“Just as a woman-owned, minority-owned business sometimes it’s easy to second-guess yourself but I stayed true to my data. The data proves that Chattanooga is a foodie town. We represent 46 local businesses in the food and beverage industry. My goal is to double that next year. We’re going to get a mobile dining car and we’re gonna rock out.”

TVFCU gave away a grand total of $58,000 in grants between the five businesses.
