Two charged in connection to teen’s death in Whitfield County

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office has charged two people in the case of a teen who died outside a home.

The juvenile’s body was found out in the cold without shoes on January 27th.

He had just escaped from a group in Columbus, Georgia the night before.

Investigators say 19 year old Chasity Beavers helped him escape.

And her uncle, James Brandon Shelton, helped him avoid capture.

Now deputies have charged both of them with Second Degree Cruelty to Children and making False Statements.

They added charges of Interference with Custody to Beavers.
