Two Dogs Shot in Hixson, McKamey Animal Center Offering Reward for Information

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – McKamey Animal Center is asking for your help in an animal cruelty investigation that happened this week.

The reward continues to grow for any information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible for shooting two dogs.

“It hurts to know someone would willingly injure a dog, a family pet, especially right here before the holiday,”says Owner, Bayli Young.

After several days of searching for their missing dogs, Luna and Aspen, owner Bayli Young got the worst phone call a dog owner can imagine.

A call from McKamey Animal Center saying Aspen had been found close by, on Shore View Lane but had died from a gunshot.

The search is on to find the person responsible who shot two family friendly dogs over the week. Resulting in the death of one of them and causing serious injury to the other. Officers say the person that shot these dogs is a skilled marksman and strategically shot both dogs in the same location on their bodies.

Young says she doesn’t understand why someone would do this but all she wants is the truth.

“There’s never really going to be any closure. In all honesty we want the truth , we want to know what happened. Its been 48 hours . We just want somebody to come forward and just answer to the judicial system, I guess,” says Young.

Now, neighbors says they are afraid to let their dogs outside the house.

Director of McKamey says it’s unacceptable that someone would shoot a dog especially in a residential area.

“This is a family neighborhood, these were family pets. They weren’t aggressive, anyone that shot these dogs we need to seriously look at who, and where, and why,”says Jamie McAloon, Director of Mckamey Animal Center.

If you know anything that could help lead to the arrest of the person who is responsible for shooting these dogs, call McKamey Animal Center.
