Two killed and dozens of buildings damaged in Polk County tornado

OCOEE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Two people are confirmed killed by a tornado that hit southeastern Polk County overnight.

Two others were injured.

Polk County Fire Chief Steve Lofty tells us that 50 homes have been damaged or destroyed.

The storm also destroyed the Ocoee Post Office and a $100,000 fire station.

The fatalities are a couple who were in a mobile home behind the Post Office.

The other two injuries lived in a nearby trailer.

Emergency Services from Bradley and Murray Counties are helping Polk with the response.

The Red Cross, United Way and Salvation Army are also assisting victims.

Fire officials encourage the public to donate to charitable organizations to support the victims
