UPDATE: Three people shot, one killed in Saturday morning shooting in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)– Chattanooga Police tell News 12 that they responded to a single-vehicle crash on Roanoke Avenue. Officials say that’s where officers found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The driver, 28-year-old Ladarius Cross, was pronounced deceased on scene, according to Chattanooga Police.

The passenger was transported by Hamilton County EMS to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

Police say around the same time another victim suffering for an apparent gunshot wound arrived at a local hospital. That person’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening. 26-year-old Terrance Careathers was also shot, but it is unclear if Careathers was the passenger or the person who transported themselves to the hospital. The third victim is a juvenile and will not be identified.

Witnesses helped CPD Officers determine that the victims were traveling north on Wheeler Avenue when an unknown suspect shot at the victims’ car. The victims did not provide any detailed suspect information. Police say the two adult victims are known gang members.

Members of the Violent Crimes Bureau are actively investigating this incident. As always, CPD is asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 423-643-5100. Callers can remain anonymous and all tips go directly to investigators.
