Two Rhea Co. football players remain hospitalized after weekend wreck

SPRING CITY, Tennessee (WDEF) Two of the three football players injured in a weekend crash remain in the hospital on Monday.

Authorities say the vehicle crashed Saturday night in the Spring City area.

The driver lost control of the Chevy Equinox going into a curve at Toestring Road & Ware Farms Road.

The SUV hit a tree, went down an embankment and landed on its top.

Officials are not identifying the victims since they are all juveniles.

All three were transported to the hospital, but one has since been released.

Several community groups are taking donations for the victims and their families.

You can drop off monetary or gift basket donations at Spring City Elementary or Rust and Rhinestones through Tuesday evening.

The first gift baskets will be donated Wednesday morning.

On Friday night, Rhea County clinched a home field playoff game with a thrilling three point win over Soddy Daisy.
