Two school bus crashes this afternoon, no kids hurt

SPRING CITY, Tennessee/ SUMMERVILLE, Georgia (WDEF) – There were two separate school bus crashes on opposite ends of the Tennessee Valley this afternoon.

Around 4:30, a car hit a Rhea County school bus on Highway 27.

Officials say it happened at the North red light in Spring City.

No one in the vehicle or on the bus were hurt.

But one witness said it looked like the car rammed into the back and then came out the side.

About the same time, another bus was hit by a logging truck in Summerville.

This time, a Chattooga County school bus was sideswiped near the intersection of Highways 114 and 100 on the south side of town.

The Summerville News has pictures showing lumber debris still hanging from a hole in the bus.

The paper reports that several students reported minor injuries, but none were taken to the hospital.

The truck kept driving after the collision, possibly not realizing that he had hit the bus.
