Two Shot and Two Stabbed in DeKalb County, AL

DeKalb County, AL (WDEF) – The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to two shootings, and in a separate incident, two stabbings yesterday.

Marshall Medical South notified authorities of a shooting that took place on Road 9055 in the Kilpatrick community after two people came to the emergency room by personal vehicle with gunshot wounds.

One of the victims is a Hispanic male in his early twenties and the other is a juvenile. Both were flown from Marshall Medical South, one to a Huntsville hospital and the other to a Birmingham hospital.

Witnesses stated the victims were driving a white van when a small dark color SUV pulled up beside them and began shooting.

Yesterday evening, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office then responded to Road 1945 in Henagar, along with Henagar Police Department, on a report a male had been stabbed.

Investigators discovered Cody Earl Seegar, 29, with a stab wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, Mr. Seegar and Anthony Tracy Shaw, 48, entered the home at Road 1945 to confront the homeowner following a family dispute.

After Mr. Seegar and Mr. Shaw forcefully entered the home and began an assault, the homeowner stabbed each victim one time. Mr. Seegar died from his injuries and Mr. Shaw was transported to Erlanger Medical Center as a result of his wound.

Both cases are under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and is still ongoing at this time. If anyone can provide additional information regarding these two incidents, call (256) 845-3801.
