U.S. Xpress Lays Off Over 100 Employees
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – U.S. Xpress has decided to lay off over 100 of its employees.
According to Vice President of Corporate Communications, Danna Bailey, the company needs to shift its focus.
The majority of the layoffs will take place in the Chattanooga area as well as Tunnel Hill. The positions being laid off are all non-driver positions.
Bailey says the HR department will be offering assistance to anyone who needs help in transitioning to the job market.
Here is the statement that was sent:
“Today we made the difficult decision to lay off just over 100 people as part of a shift in company focus. We simply needed to make sure our resources and people match our strategic direction.
For a little background, we have roughly 10,000 total employees working from 55 locations throughout the country, including professional truck drivers. The majority of the layoffs are taking place in Chattanooga and Tunnel Hill and are all non-driver positions.
Again, this was a difficult business decision. Our HR department is offering assistance for anyone who would like help in their transition to the job market.”
