Union Gospel Mission helping homeless beat the heat

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) – With Temperatures up into the 90s, the Union Gospel Mission is passing out ice cold water to our unhoused residents.

During the summer months, staying hydrated is often a challenge for the homeless population and is essential when temperatures rise.

“If you are not in the shade or a comfortable place you just sweat standing around. Your body needs water. It’s just a way for us to help benefit folks,” says Rev. Jon Rector, Union Gospel Mission.
