United Way holds ‘Live United’ day to bring community together
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The United Way of Greater Chattanooga were at the Chattanooga Market today for Live United Day.
At their booths, they were passing out information.
They also had activities for the kids.
United Way of Greater Chattanooga President and CEO Lesley Scearce says Live United is all about celebrating when the community comes together united in fighting the things that matter to the community.
“When I say fight, we’re talking about calling to action our community to tackle our biggest issues like poverty, education, issues that threaten families stability. We really believe that if we work on these things together we have a much greater chance of knocking them out,” says Scearce.
Scearce says despite all of the positives in Chattanooga, childhood poverty continues to be an issue.
She says 42-percent of kids in the city live in poverty.
