Update: DeKalb Co. Sheriff’s Office arrest two suspects in yesterday’s homicide

Update: Officials say pending the autopsy report, the District Attorney advises to charge Minor with first degree assault and kidnapping.

Police are not charging  Norma Jo Grinnell at this time, they say she appears to be the victim.

Update: According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, the persons of interest in the homicide from yesterday are now in custody. 

It happened at 9 am at an abandoned chicken house on County Road. 

Officials took Norma Jo Grinnell to DeKalb Medical Center for injuries and Doug Minor to the detention center. 

Both suspects will be questioned.

Update: According to Dekalb County arrest records, Doug Minor has been arrested 10 times since 2006. The charges range anywhere from assault to reckless endangerment.

The last time Minor was arrested was on the 27th of March this year.

DeKalb County, Alabama (WDEF)- DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office confirms a woman was found dead Saturday morning. 


Officials say it happened at Doug Minors residence at 1587 County Road 127 on Lookout Mountain. 

Deputies arrived on the scene to a woman with many bruises to the body and bleeding from the head. The manner of death is believed  to be blunt force trauma to the head. 

Sheriff Jimmy Harris received reports that Minor left the residence in a 1998 White Ford Ranger with a homemade bumper and the tag number, 28BJ617. Officials believe 32-year-old Norma Jo Grinnell may be a passenger in the vehicle with Minor. Both are persons of interest. 

"Anyone coming in contact with these persons please contact your local law enforcement because they are considered dangerous and maybe armed," says Sheriff Harris.
