USGS reports earthquake near the airport
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – An earthquake was reported in Hamilton County this morning.
It happened at 6:37 local time this morning.
The United States Geological Survey says it occurred 3 km ENE of East Ridge, or near the Chattanooga Airport.

According to the USGS, it was a 2.5 magnitude earthquake.
The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10.8 kilometers beneath the Earth’s surface.
The USGS says earthquakes 3.0 magnitude and weaker – like this one – are typically “not felt except by a very few under especially favorable conditions”.
