Using workout classes to help New Year’s resolutions

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — It’s a New Year, and many folks are using it as a fresh start, to get into shape.

But it can be easy to get discouraged if you’re not used to going to the gym.

That’s why trainers recommend fitness classes, like this new spinning class, Cycle 45.

Don Bowman with the Sports Barn says workout classes not only teach you new routines, but they give you something to look forward to.

“When you have a group and you have that synergy and the excitement of a group doing something like that as your hear back there, that kind of music and that kind of bonding, it gets people to come back more often, so the attrition and the retention is more solid. It’s not just, ‘I’ll try it one time,” says Bowman.

Bowman says if you want to get into a good routine and spinning’s not for you, there are plenty of other classes to choose from – like yoga and Pilates, or dance.
