UTC Women Hoping to Add Another SoCon Title to Their Collection

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) The UTC women’s basketball team has won a staggering 18 SoCon tournament titles.
But to add to their collection this week in Asheville, Chattanooga will have to topple the field as a three seed, after going 8-6 in league play in the regular season.

Chattanooga may not be favored to add another SoCon title this year, but they’re confident they can make a run for it.
Said guard Lakelyn Bouldin:”We know going in that any given night, we can beat anybody. It’s just putting four quarters together.
Said head coach Katie Burrows:”Our record is not great, but we did compete and won games when we needed to.”
But what will it take to win games in Asheville?
Said forward Eboni Williams:”I feel like we need to do a better job at communicating on the court. We do it, but we could do better.”
Said Bouldin:”I think we’ve got to find a way to score more and just finish off the game. I think everything else is there.”
Said Burrows:”Yes, if we don’t hit shots, we are going to struggle. I was telling them the other day. Our defense is really doing a good job, but we have very little margin for error when we’re not hitting shots.”
UTC tips the tourney against Greensboro on Thursday at 5:45pm.
Said Bouldin:”I think we’re excited with who we drew for this tournament. I think everybody is ready to get some revenge. We lost to them last week. They put us out last year in the tournament, so I definitely think it’s time for some revenge this year.”
Everyone will look for revenge against top seeded Mercer, who went undefeated in league play during the regular season.
Said Burrows:”They always say it’s tough to beat somebody three times in one season. So they are going to have to do that with everybody. And I think people are starting to figure them out a little bit. It was evident in the last few games that they played. They were very close games. But they also have four seniors in their starting lineup who have been there before and do know how to win.”
