Vacant apartment engulfed by flames

Chattanooga, Tenn. — While many firefighters were battling a 2-alarm fire on Mountain Creek Road early this afternoon, other firefighters were dispatched to a duplex fire in Brainerd. The duplex was located at 4636 Kemp Drive in Brainerd. Captain Keith Liles with Squad 13 said the firefighters got the fire out quickly, but there was substantial damage, with the dollar loss estimated at $50,000.

Captain Liles said the duplex appears to have been abandoned. No one was there and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) –  A fire in the Brainerd area sent crews out in force.

The call came in at 12:20 p.m. of a structure fire on Kemp road.

Upon arriving on scene, crews found a vacant duplex apartment fully engulfed in flames. 3 engine companies responded.

The fire got knocked down in about an hour. There’s no word on the cause.

No one was injured.
