Varnell City Council member receives threat

VARNELL, Ga. (WDEF) –  Whitfield County is putting extra patrols out near a Varnell Council member’s home after the official received a threat.

According to the Dalton Daily Citizen, the sheriff’s office has agreed to the added safety measure near the home of Varnell City Council member Jan Pourquoi.

The paper reports a man told the council member that he had made a lot of enemies and had better watch his back.

His wife was reportedly concerned that the threat may be because of her husband’s vote to dissolve the Varnell Police Department.
