Veteran uses disc golf to raise money for Wounded Warrior Project
DALTON, Georgia (WDEF)-Anthony Davis is a veteran and a disc golf player. This weekend these two things became one as he ran a disc golf tournament with the proceeds going to The Wounded Warrior Project.
“Disc Golf is a passion of mine. Being a veteran is part of who I am, and just to have them all come together as one is a great feeling,” said Davis.
“Just helping that organization out. Everything the World Warrior Project stands for I don’t think we give enough to our veterans,” said disc golfer Andrew Tanner.
A lot of work has gone into this event but the disc golf community showed up big.
“Giving back to the community and veterans that need help and also look around we have 95 people out here just to play disc golf. It is great to have this community involved,” said Davis.
“This community is just filled with a bunch of good people. I haven’t had a camaraderie like this in any other sport that I’ve played and it’s just nice to see that everyone comes out here for the same cause,” said Tanner.
Davis said the military is something that will always be a part of him and he’s proud the disc golf community supports that.
