VFW Gives Back To Homeless Veterans

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The food drive on behalf of the Chattanooga Vet center was a big success.

An Army truck arrived at the Vet center on Lee Highway at noon.

Members of the Army Reserve began unloading canned foods and clothing that was collected by members of the VFW Post 1289.

The Vet center works with homeless veterans and families who need special attention this time of year.

“This year, I think we surpassed ourselves. We’re surprised that we got as much as we did. Uh, we..I think we tripled what we did last year.,” said John Croteau who is the Commander of the VFW post.

This was the third year the members of Post 1289 have conducted the food drive.
