Victim who lost her eyes in attack testifies against her accused attacker

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Dramatic testimony today in a gruesome domestic violence case.

A woman had her eyes gouged out in the attack.

Despite her new blindness, she took the stand this morning to testify against the father of her child.

And that two year old witnessed the whole thing.

Michael Roberson was bound over to a grand jury based on the testimony at his first court hearing on Wednesday.

He is charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault.

The victim just got out of the hospital last week.

She took the stand with a visor to cover her injuries.

She said they had an argument inside her home, and Roberson became violent when he followed her outside.

She testified that he gouged her eyes out with his hands, in front of their child.

“As he was attacking me, I kept screaming for his mother to help me and he told her if she tried to help me he would do the same thing to her. I heard my son screaming, ‘Mommy, Mommy, Mommy.'”

Roberson’s mother testified he has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and was off his medication.
