Video released of fatal crash at GA bus stop

ROSWELL, GA (CBS46) – Officials with MARTA released video showing the moments a car served into a bus stop, killing two people and injuring another.

The crash occurred at a bus top in Roswell in March, but there’s still questions about what the driver was going right before the wreck.

“I’ve never seen anything like what I witnessed there, and I hope I never do again,” said an eyewitness to the sight of the almost unreal crash scene.

MARTA officials released video from cameras both inside and outside the bus, which captured the moment a silver car speeds past the bus and collides with people standing at a nearby bus stop.

From a camera mounted in front of the bus, you see a person being thrown through the air, followed by glass and mangled metal from what was the bus stop. Cameras inside the bus show disbelief on the faces of passengers and even the bus driver.

What exactly the driver, who police say is in her 60s, was doing before the crash has not yet been made public. Officials believe the woman swerved to avoid rear-ending the bus, but in doing so she hit three people, killing two and injuring one.

Curtis Freeman, 55, was one of the people who didn’t survive.

“He made everybody smile and if you were having a bad day, he would always come out with one of his Luther songs to make our day,” said Gail Bohannon, who was Freeman’s co-worker.

Roswell police say more information about the case will be released on Monday.
