Vols Hoping to Put Rivalry Back Into Third Saturday in October

Tennessee got their first SEC win in nearly two years over the weekend by upsetting Auburn.
Now they have to tackle the nation’s number one ranked team in Alabama.
The Vols would love to pull off another huge upset Saturday, and stop another long losing streak to one of their biggest rivals.

Fan:”Southern Football. Nothing like it.”
Tennessee and Alabama define Southern football, and Nick Saban expects another grand Third Saturday in October.
Said Saban:”This is the most important Tennessee-Alabama game ever played because it’s the one we are playing now.”
Saban has never lost to Tennessee as Bama’s head coach.
The Tide have won 11 straight in the series.
Said Saban:”Doesn’t matter what happened last year or ten years ago. It’s what is going to happen this week. (Tennessee) is a confident team now. They just had a big win, so we are going to have to be at our best.”
Said Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt:”I think we’ve got to do our part to create this rivalry again. It’s not been much of a rivalry the last few years. We’ve got to uphold our end of it.”
To make it a rivalry this year, UT will have to stop the nation’s top offense. Bama is averaging 53 points a game.
Said Pruitt:”They are really spreading the ball around. They’ve got all kinds of play-makers. I mean they’ve really had to try hard not to score a hundred points in a couple of games you know. I started watching tape on them last night on offense. After watching a couple of games, I was afraid to look at the defense.”
Pruitt used to run Saban’s defense at Bama before taking the Vols head coaching job.
Said Saban:”This is as well coached a team as we have played all year long. You’ve got to give a lot of credit to Jeremy and his staff for what they’ve been able to do there in a short period of time.”
Reporter:”What’s sort of your overall mid-season evaluation of this team. It’s 3-3. Maybe about what you expected when you looked at the schedule before the season?”
Said Pruitt:”I didn’t set there all summer and say I hope we’re 3-3 after six games. I think there’s lots of lessons that we’ve learned every week.”

The Tide and Vols kick at 3:30pm Saturday and it will be televised on News 12 Now.
