Vols Must Put Aside Drama and Battle Southern Miss

Despite all the drama surrounding Butch Jones future on Rocky Top, the team must still battle Southern Miss, hoping to snap a four game losing streak.
Butch Jones may be on the hot seat, but he says it’s business as usual for the team.
Said Jones:”Our players, just like us, it’s back to work for the week. I don’t think again. They’re ready to go just like our coaching staff.”
We may not know if Jones can save his job, but the players are focused on saving the season.
Said defensive lineman Kendal Vickers:”Just win. Winning is always a motivational factor. It’s why you play the game. It’s the same message every week. Just go out there. Go out there and get the win.”
Said receiver Brandon Johnson:”Nothing but strap up. It’s our moment. We’ll try to go make something happen. Something real special.”
Said offensive lineman Jashon Robertson:”At this point we are fighting for a bowl game, and that’s the goal. Right now we are just doing everything we can to control what we can control going into this week.”
If Tennessee is going to win, they must get touchdowns in the red zone.
Said offensive coordinator Larry Scott:”The self-inflicted things are just the things that really hurt us in the red zone and everybody knows in the red zone, you can not take a lost yardage play. You can’t take a penalty because the thing that is of essence down there is downs. When people put you in throw downs in those situations, the amount of things you can see from different pressures and different coverages, it changes the game a little bit for you.”
The Vols will need a strong run game against Southern Miss.
Said Jones:”They’re only giving up 128-yards of rushing. Again, they make you earn every yard they get. They’re 27th in the country in total defense and 12th in the country with tackles for a loss.”
The Vols and Southern Miss will kick at 7:30pm, and the game will be televised on the SEC Network.
