Vols Must Try and Stop Another Top Ranked Alabama Team

No wonder it has been hard for Tennessee to beat Alabama in recent years.
Saturday will mark the sixth time a Nick Saban Tide team has been ranked number one when facing Tennessee. And this year’s Bama squad might be one of Saban’s finest.

Reporter to Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt:”Is this the best team you have ever studied on tape?”
Said Pruitt:”You know I would say through six games possibly, probably is.”
Reporter:”Look at what Alabama has been able to do offensively in terms of explosive plays. Tua leading the nation in yards per attempt. I think they’ve got five receivers over 18 yards a catch.”
Said Pruitt:”You know what. As the week has gone, and I continue to watch tape, I told assistant coach (Kevin) Sherrer before we went to practice that I was going to let him call the game this week.”
And Nick Saban did his best to make the Vols sound invincible too.
Said Saban:”I think Tennessee is playing the best football they’ve played all season. Really good receivers. They have some guys who have some size, and they are really good at going after the 50/50 balls down the field, which I think they hit six of them last week in the game all for big plays. Conceptually they are doing a lot of stuff that they did at USC, which is where Tyson Helton came from. He was a really good coach. I used to coach with his dad. Knew those guys when they were in grade school. Now they’re presenting problems out there for old guys like me.”
Yes Tennessee has improved, but they’re still a four touchdown underdog.
Said Pruitt:”It’s a great opportunity for our guys to compete against one of the best teams in the country, and I think our guys are looking forward to it.”
Since this is the third Saturday in October, the rivalry trumps rankings and records.
Said Saban:”Our players have got to understand that years from now and years down the road when you say you played at Alabama. They are going to say what was your record against Tennessee. What was your record against Auburn, and how many championships did you win?” So I guarantee you those are three questions that you are going to get asked.”
