Vols Renewing Basketball Series With Memphis

Tennessee and Memphis plan to renew their in-state basketball rivalry next season.
The two teams haven’t played since 2013. Tennessee leads the all-time series 14-11, although the Tigers have won the last three meeting. The series will tip off next year in Memphis although a date has not been set. The following season the Vols and Tigers will meet in Knoxville, and then in year three, the game will go down in Nashville, which really excites Vols coach Rick Barnes.

Said Barnes :”We would love to see it even though we like the home-and-home, we’d like to make it a big day of basketball in Nashville. Not just us but bring in other teams within the state and just make it a day to really promote basketball. That’s the reason we are going there that third year. It’ll be a game like that. Some kind of jamboree or extravaganza. Something that will really promote basketball in the state of Tennessee.”
