Volunteer Electric Power Update for Cumberland, Rhea, Bledsoe counties

Volunteer Electric Power Cooperative reports 23,000 customers remain without power as of Monday morning.
Most of them are on the Cumberland Plateau which has been hit hard by a combination of ice and high wind.
But there are still scattered outages in Bledsoe and Rhea counties.
Volunteer reports they have almost cut the number in half since the height of the storm.
But that leaves 18,000 people in Cumberland County still without power.
And Volunteer says some will remain that way for several days.
