Volunteers help efforts to “Stamp Out Hunger” in Tennessee Valley

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)-  Dozens of food boxes were packed up and prepared for families in the area on Saturday.

This after many of you helped the Chattanooga Area Food Bank with the ‘Stamp Out Hunger’ food drive.

The food was either dropped off at the food bank or, for your convenience, left next to your mailbox for the post office to do the heavy lifting.

The Food Bank says the program makes a big impact this time of year.

“Just to know there are folks out here in our community that don’t have food that’s just hard to imagine and so that’s what we’re here for and that’s what the community comes together and helps us out with,” said Scott Bruce with the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.

They say this time of year, they don’t receive as much food as around the holidays so their shelves aren’t as full.

Many families struggle during the summer since their children aren’t getting their meals from school
