Walker County To Begin Hyper Reach Alert System

WALKER COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) – Walker County officials are making sure people are properly signed up for their Hyper Reach Community Alert system.

The system provides phone and email notifications to the public during emergencies or issues that concern the public. Officials say alerts will be sent out for everything from weather to road closures.

It will be specialized, depending on where the resident lives.

Joe Legge said, “We can pinpoint it down to specific areas of the community or send out notifications into the entire community.”

Tomorrow the system will be tested out at noon.

People who have signed up will receive a notification and know they are on the system. Officials will also be able to see if there are any problems.

Those interested in receiving community alerts can register online at walkerga.us or by calling the Walker County Commissioner’s Office at 706-638-1437 and ask to be added to the list.
